Curses, not loud, but deep

And now I've put copper stripes in my hair. Is it the Mid-Month Magpie or truly a good idea? We'll see.

I was filled with wrath by my credit card company today. I paid the card off entirely at the end of June, so I could use it freely on vacation. Which I did, and for a few things since we got back. The plan was to use it for Himself's dentist appointment next week and then not touch it again until it was once more paid off. This was all budgeted and planned for, and all was hunky dory.

I had my doctor visit to fend off the concerns of the DPS this week. The doctor said I seem to be doing splendidly, and he will happily be my champion against the varlets who seek to take my license. However, he ordered some blood work as part of the exam, and since I have lame lame insurance I needed to pay the bill for all this up front and trust the insurance company to reimburse me. The bill came to $395, far more than I was prepared for, so I gave them $160 in cash and came away. I meant to put the rest on my credit card when I went in for the lab work this morning.

Purely on a whim, I checked my account status before I left, and discovered that though my expenditures were right in the expected range, totaling a little less than half of the card limit I had, the card limit had inexplicably been cut in HALF. So I had $3 of credit before I maxed out the card. Instead of over $1,000.

WTF?!!! I said, and fired off a polite yet firm note to the company to that effect. I mean, I've never maxed out the card, always paid the bill, nearly always more than they asked for every month, and in fact had just PAID OFF THE CARD. What were they thinking??

The message I got back said that I should have or should shortly get a letter on this occurrence. Not good enough, in my opinion. I mean, what if I hadn't checked? What were they thinking, yanking the rug out without a word?

Grrr. Aghh. Gnashing of teeth and snarling of profanity. Is there no reward for fiscal virtue?

Not sure. The biggie is Himself's dentist visit. I shall have to see how cool they are about letting me pay in installments.
